25th January 2025, 10:00 – 16:00
Learn about the heritage craft of silk screen printing with two experienced printmakers. In this practical workshop you’ll get to grips with the art technique made famous by the likes of Andy Warhol, John Piper, Eduardo Paolozzi and Roy Lichtenstein.
No experience is necessary for the workshop as you will be taken step by step through how to make your own multi-layered prints. You’ll be shown how to use optical colour mixing, create positive and negative stencils, learn about making translucent inks, and get a handle on using a squeegee.
Sarah and Cipriano Martinez are expert printmakers with over 10 years’ experience. Sarah is a qualified secondary school teacher and Cipriano is a painter and has taught screen printing to degree level. Together they’ve built Berkshire Printmakers
For each workshop they bring their large library of over 30 plain and patterned photo screens, an array of colours of water-based inks and stencils to introduce participants to the endless possibilities of the silkscreen process.
Come and join us at Southlands to enjoy those endless possibilities.
All materials are included in the ticket price. Refreshments provided, but participants need to bring their own lunch.
